CARBURES is still addressing with its roadmap, through the acquisition of MDU, the largest regional engineering, a fact that enhances the solid structure that the company is creating in order to tackle its ambitious growth process.

ABC newspaper, among others media, published this important news, which we share with our followers.

CARBURES integrates MDU for creating a carbon fiber structures leader.

The andalusian aeronautical manufacturer acquires the larger regional engineering.

CARBURES and MDU have starred one of the most ambitious corporate movements in the regional aeronautical business. The Cádiz (Spain) based company specializes in manufacturing carbon fiber structures has acquired 100% shares of MDU, the main Andalusian engineering in the sector (with a staff of 250 employees and a turnover exceeding 14 million euros).

In turn, the president and founder of this firm, Ramon Sanchez Garduño, joins to the board of directors of CARBURES and becomes into one of its reference shareholders (with 5.45% of the shares , which are quoting on the AlternativeStock Market). The other partners are Neuer Gedanke (23.2%) and Univen Capital (5.54%). The total amount of the transaction was not disclosed.

In the last two years  horizontal alliances have been recorded in the engineering sector (Elimco and Aertec created Glenser, now in the hands of the latter, Sevilla Control Ayesa Control have created a joint subsidiary).

For CARBURES and MDU is a vertical integration between a manufacturer of components and an engineering group to address the demands of Airbus, which asks for more dimension to their suppliers; furthermore, it is a way of gaining muscle to tackle the international market  and grow in all sectors in which the carbon fiber has a future, such as automotive and infrastructure, explained to ABC the promoters.

External Market

"It is a logical maturation process, we are two companies with a strong technological base, CARBURES is already in the automotive business and MDU has its own products both in telecommunications systems and critical systems shipped, the value of the synergies is very high to gain ground in the international market, "states Rafael Contreras, CEO of the company.

In turn, Ramon Sanchez Garduño added that "it is a decisive step to go outside from a very strong industrial position in Andalusia."

In parallel, CARBURES begins quoting on continuously in the Alternative Stock Market. So far, its operations in this market have been marked by two changes daily at 12:00 and 16:00 hours of each day. A form known as "fixing". "It is a very important step as long as  this gives liquidity to our shares and makes us more attractive to investors," says Contreras.

Both companies, CARBURES and MDU were born in 2003. Since then, both have had different paths. The first one arose within the University of Cadiz- its chairman is the Professor Carlos Guillén- to develop its industrial capacity in the field of carbon fiber.

It has a factory in El Puerto de Santa Maria (Cádiz-Spain) and another one in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz-Spain) newly opened. This year has started to build a new plant in Burgo de Osma (Soria-Spain) to address the automotive industry and has acquired the U.S. firm Fiberdyne. Among the highlights is also relevant the incorporation of José María Tarragó (former vice president of the Catalan giant Ficosa) in 2011.

MDU was born, in turn, with six engineers to grow in the defense sector, where it has contracts with Airbus and Navantia. Since then it has grown a 20% annually and it has had offers from other companies (the last of Cesa, controlled by EADS). Ten years after its founding, the two companies creates now a single business group whose consolidated business in 2012 amounted to 30 million and its revenue forecasts in 2013 are over 50 million.
